Welcome

Membership

All are welcome at our worship services, prayer, and programs whether they are formal members of the congregation or not.  If you are interested in membership in our community, it involves regular attendance at worship, making a financial commitment of any amount to the mission and ministry of the cathedral, and being baptized, confirmed, or received.

About the Cathedral

Christ Church was founded in 1858, when Eau Claire was little more than a small logging community.  It was made into a cathedral in 1928, when the Diocese of Eau Claire was formed out of a portion of the Diocese of Milwaukee.  A cathedral is the ‘Mother Church’ of a diocese, and it is the church where the bishop of the diocese is seated, so the cathedral is a pilgrimage center for all Episcopal congregations in northwestern Wisconsin.  The Episcopal Diocese of Eau Claire is part of the Episcopal Church in the United States, and also part of the worldwide Anglican Communion.

From the Dean

Welcome to the website of Christ Church Cathedral, Mother Church of the Episcopal Diocese of Eau Claire. Christ Church has stood at the heart of downtown Eau Claire for over 150 years. It is the home of a community of people who work together to make our church a place of welcome, beauty, holiness, and service. I hope this website will inspire you to visit our Cathedral and join us for worship.  You will be welcome, and we would value your presence.

Hospitality

Our church has a strong vocation to extend the radical hospitality of the Gospel to all people.  This means welcoming all people to our worship service and loving them unconditionally, without judgment.  We value the diversity of people with which God has enriched all of our lives, and we honor rational and constructive conversation between people of different beliefs and viewpoints.  Only by engaging with others can we hope to be formed by the Holy Spirit into the image of Christ.
